Web Development and Process Information
Our Web Design / Development Process:

The first, initial consultation is FREE

For local potential clients, the consultations usually take place at your home or office and generally takes about an hour. Free and without obligation. The initial consultation can also be done via email or phone. For out of state or country clients, we will consult via email or phone. At this meeting, we will be discussing the following:
  • Your needs and expectations of having a website
  • We find out if you have current advertising material that can be used on your website
  • We will answer any questions you may have
The purpose of this initial meeting is to provide you with enough information to allow you to decide whether you want to go on to the next step and the writing of a detailed estimate.

After our first meeting, if you decide that St Croix Designers should write a detailed estimate, we will need further information from you, by having you fill in a form we have designed specifically for this purpose.
We will then write a detailed report according to the specifications you have requested for your web site and include a cost estimate.

Once the client has agreed to engage St Croix Designers to develop their website, we will prepare a standard contract, including a detailed description of the planned web site and a cost estimate.
1/3rd of the total estimated cost, is due upon signing of the Agreement.

Information Relevant to the Website Project:

Before we can being the actual designing of the website, text and graphic content must be supplied to us before the work can begin. We will help advise you on what type of content is needed, but it is important to realise that the client also has to have some input into the information gathering process. If you would prefer that St Croix Designers does all of this for you, or does the editing of your content - this will be charged as an extra fee, but we will advise you of that in our estimate.

Design Layout:
Once all of the content information has been supplied to us, we do a layout of the main page. We will produce a layout based on preferences provided by you, and upload this site to a private location on the Internet where the you, client can view it. We go through this process a few times, until the client is happy with the layout.

The client's feedback is solicited, and this feedback used to produce a second draft. Once more, client feedback is used to make another round of changes, and these changes are expected to produce a final draft.

Testing of Completed Website:
The site is thoroughly tested prior to uploading to the clients' choice of host. This is the final chance for changes and minor corrections to be made.

Launching your Completed Website:
After final testing and correction of any errors or changes requested by the client, the site is launched.

Maintenance and Updates:
A website needs regular maintenance. You shouldn't assume that once it's online, you can forget about it. If you want people to return to your site, you should add new content and update existing material regularly.

We also offer this service once your website has been completed. We price either by the hour or can set up a specific maintenance contract to suit your business needs.
